Mini Fall Tour

With winter fast approaching here in Michigan, I thought I should finally share with you a mini fall tour of my home. I have kept putting this blog post off for nearly 2 months now, partially because of laziness and denial that Summer is over, but now that sunset is 5:45pm and summer is long gone it was about time to pull the trigger on it before I begin talking about Christmas. I’m definitely more of a spring/summer person, but there’s something about the coziness of fall that I can’t help but love. I hate winter, but fall I like and therefore was very welcomed into my home at the beginning of September. The changes that I made within our home, were subtle with the intent to create a more cozy atmosphere. Come check it out!

In the living room I made very few changes that included the coffee table centerpiece and I changed out the pillows. It's amazing what changing the pillows does to a space! I already owned most of the fabric that I used so I sewed most of them, but the other ones I picked up from my HomeGoods (No surprise right? I feel like half my home decor is from there!)   As for the table centerpiece, I used white vases, and used branches that I've owned for years from Whole Foods to give it more of a fall look.

At one point this fall I also had a little pumpkin centerpiece on my media cabinet, but unfortunately the Pinterest tip that I read about soaking pumpkins in bleach and following up with vaseline didn't work so well. Now these pumpkins rest in a local landfill somewhere. Next year I think I'm better off buying faux one!

I also brought fall to my front hallway by adding in faux fall blooms, my sign that I blogged about awhile ago, and a little pumpkin. Simple but festive.

The changes that I made in our living room stuck to the blue, white, brown color theme so when it came to my buffet area in our kitchen I decided to make it more fall color themed. I do so by removing the blue and green accents that previously had been on the shelves and replaced it with copper accents. Moscow mules became my favorite drink this fall which also inspired the copper theme, thanks to my new copper Moscow mule mugs.

I'm responsible for doing the table scape for Thanksgiving at my parents this year so I'm still working on a centerpiece that I can use at her and mine house, but for now I've just been enjoying my $2.99 eucalyptus branches and I love how they bring life to the space.

I hope you are all having a wonderful fall so far!  December is creeping up fast so stay tuned for our Christmas decorations!
