Life and House Updates

Happy Monday, everyone and happy Fall! I seriously can't believe it's already mid-October! This is one of my favorite months, thanks to the beautiful weather here in Michigan and pumpkin everything so I'm definitely not complaining. It's been awhile since I've posted a blog post so I thought that I would jump on here and give you all a little update about life and our house.

Simply put, life has been a little busy lately here in Grandville, but I wouldn't have it any other way. We have lived in our house for a little over a year now , and it feels like we are finally settled in and really start building roots in the area. The first 8 months or so of living here was spent working non-stop on projects, and since Paul and I both work in the house we were constantly in the house. Now, we like to spend a lot of free time being anywhere but our house and this past few weeks hasn't been an exception. Three weeks ago, we went on our first vacation since our honeymoon last June so it was very much needed. Paul's best friend got married in Albuquerque so we made a week trip out of it and went to Las Vegas, Arizona and New Mexico. Within the trip we crossed off several items on the bucket list including visiting the Grand Canyon, seeing the Hoover Dam, visiting Sedona and going on a hot air ballon making it a very productive and exciting vacation.

View from flight as we flew over Chicago, thought it was pretty cool!
Sedona, AZ was absolutely beautiful! We only spent a day there, but I definitely plan to go back one day!

When we got home from our vacation, I was so excited to see that our mums that we planted in May had blossomed. We have 2 yellow ones that are currently full bloomed and two burnt orange ones that have buds on them but have not blossomed yet. I'm hoping they bloom soon though!

The weekend after we got back from our trip, I hosted our first little football party at our house and had some friends over which was really fun. When we moved to this city a year ago we knew no one, besides my sister-in-law, so it's been really exciting making new friends in the area.  At the party, I was able to put to use some of my wedding gifts which was also quite exciting for me.

For the table centerpieces I used two cake stands and on the bottom one I put pumpkins around it (blog post later this week on how I preserve them) and on the top cake stand I had made pumpkin spiced cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting. Pretty and delicious!

This weekend was filled with football, apple orchards, pumpkin patches and a Canadian Friends-giving. Needless to say it was a picture perfect fall weekend (especially since Michigan won 38-0)!

Since we've been very busy this past month, we haven't done a lot of work on the house but I have been able to get some smaller projects done, as well as, there are projects that I finished at the end of the summer that I have yet to show you all. That said, this week and next I will be catching you all up on my projects that I have finished. This includes things in our guest bedroom makeover, front entryway, and fall decor! Stay tuned!
